Google AdSense

The pros and cons of putting Google AdSense onto your Web page.

Google Adsense is a great way to monetise your site as it allows you to easily create an advert and paste it onto your site, the question is, is it always appropriate and will it work? We have put a list of pros and cons for you to consider before adding AdSense to your site.

Pros

Free to use and to set-up

Quick and easy to use – It doesn’t take long to create an advert and there are lots of statistics and advice available

No External Pressures – It’s a safer option than directly contacting a company and promising them x amount of visits for £y.

Everything in one place – No need to search for advertisers as Google AdSense searches your site and displays relevant adverts based on your content.

Cons

Can annoy visitors – If they mistake an advert for part of your navigation the user could leave the site and never return.

Unprofessional? – With people becoming more internet savvy there’s a risk they might view your site as spam rather than genuine content and leave.

Minimum payout – Currently you need to earn £60.00 in the UK before Google will make a payment to you, this could take a long time if your site has a low amount of visitors.

Upkeep– You will need to keep your site fresh and up-to-date in order to keep generating the visitors and revenue.

Google AdSense is a great tool and can be great second income or primary income however it’s worth considering these negative points before adding it your site. If you are interested in adding AdSense to your site please visit https://www.google.com/adsense/
